As Published in the AIP or the Aeronautical Information Publication, the Philippines have three types of airports or aerodromes: International Aerodrome, Principal Aerodrome, and Community Aerodrome.

International Aerodromes are aerodromes which has border control facility and it is used for international flights.

Principal Aerodromes are aerodromes that are used for domestic flights. There are two classes of Principal Aerodromes:Class 1 and Class 2.

Class 1 Principal Aerodromes are used for Jet services. (Jet aircraft includes B737, A320, DC9 or greater, which has equal to or more than 100-seats capacity.)

Class 2 Principal Aerodromes are used for Prop services. (Prop aircrafts or jet aircrafts smaller than those indicated in Class 1, which has equal to or more than 19-seats capacity.)

Community Aerodromes are used for general aviation aircrafts.
